If you wanted to find reggae in late ’70s Bristol your best bet was the Saturday disco at the Docklands Settlement community centre in City Road where you might just hear of a blues party going on later. “Which is where we got our inspiration for The Wild Bunch sound system,” says G

Full Circle is a charity that has been delivering services aimed at children, young people and families in the St Pauls area of Bristol since 1980. Aspiration Creation Elevation (ACE) is a social enterprise that has been delivering music-based therapeutic mentoring workshops for children and young people in Bristol since 2013. Currently they deliver youth provision on three evenings a week to between 80-100 children and young people from St Pauls and Montpelier with activities including music, dance, art and computer games.
In 2014 the two organisations came together to successfully bid for the right to take over the running of Dockland Settlement & Youth Centre under Bristol City Council’s Community Asset Transfer scheme and have been jointly managing the buildings since October of that year under the new name @Docklands.
New Centre Manager Delroy Hibbert says ‘that there was real fear in the community that if no one came forward to take it on this much-loved and historical youth facility could have been deemed as surplus to requirements by the council and sold off for development. ACE and Full Circle decided to come together to prevent this from happening and preserve the buildings for future use by the residents of St Pauls and surrounding areas.’
On 20th February 2016 between 2pm and 6pm we will be holding our official launch event with special VIP guest Ray Mighty, whose own music career began at the Docklands Settlement, officially open the building for us. On the day our guests can take part in a raffle and win a £50 cash prize, take a tour of the building and see what is on offer. The event will also include young people enterprise stalls and performances from children and young people who attend the youth clubs showcasing their talents and proving that Docklands still has a key role to play in the developing of young Bristol talent.
