The homegrown network came down to the docklands youth centre in st.pauls and spoke to the directors of ACE and founder of hi-road studios.
The directors of ACE had been mentored through music provisions as young people and have strived to make sure these same provisions are available for the next generation.
But not to worry we have the remedy that will help you get through!
1. Positive mental attitude
Tell your self you CAN do it, you CAN make it through and you WILL achieve the results you are looking for
2. Get a good nights sleep
A good nights sleep will keep you refreshed and help your brain to relax. Over working and working under stressful conditions is not good.
3. Work for 20 minutes
Plan what you are going to do and do it for 20 minutes. After that take a break, then get back to it for a further 20 minutes Until you have tackled your days study.
4. Get a study buddy
Revise with someone taking the same exams. This will help you both. you can test each other and share knowledge
5. Eat Brain Foods
A bad diet can leave you feeling tired and not being able to concentrate.
Make sure you are eating a good healthy balanced diet to get you through.
Keeping active can help reduce stress, leaving your mind and body feeling good!
7. Read out loud
You are more likely to remember something if you say it. Reading aloud will help to imprint information into your brain
8. Make time for friends
During this busy time it is easy to only focus on the task you have ahead of you! But make sure you make time to socialise and have fun also. All work and no play makes a dull day!
9. Ask for help
All of your teachers, friends and family are resources you can use to help you along the way if you feel lost stuck or cant get the hang of something.
10. Prep for exams the day before!
Dont leave it to the morning to pack everything you need. Before you go to bed (nice and early!) make sure you have your bag packed with all the resources you need. This will help your morning be less stressful helping you be prepared for the exam.

Like a Phoenix that rose from the fire ACE was born in extreme times of change.
The youth service was being commissioned to big organisations, Docklands Youth Centre was at threat of loosing important and needed youth provisions.
Three years ago the young people in St Pauls that had been using the services and more importantly had made positive relations with ourselves where being threatened with not having a fun, safe and educational space filled with great resources and positive role models. Their only other option being led into a life of crime and negativity.
That’s when ACE was born
To keep the needed services and support for young people in St Pauls and three years later we are still running strong, using creative arts activities as a vehicle to mentor, educate & inspire young people towards becoming positive members of their community.
This type of engagement to disadvantaged young people can provide the needed inspiration, empowerment & positivity to implement cohesion & growth within their communities.
ACE look beyond the surface of what today’s disadvantaged youths face:
A cycle of inequality
Low aspirations
Negativity
High risk of criminal record before 18
Which ultimately have damaging affects on families, communities & even societies.
As a Community Interest Company, we feel it’s crucial that we operate on multiple fronts, which all contribute towards our overarching aim of reaching more people and provide a wider range of positive community activities.
Our work in the community is the primary focus of our organisation. It is the direct route to reaching our ultimate vision. These vital services are mostly sustained by funding grants to carryout the work.
We hope to sustain & expand our community work through increasing our commercial and commissioning profits to reinvest.
All money made from the CDs will ensure the space and activities we provide for young people can continue.

Full Circle is a charity that has been delivering services aimed at children, young people and families in the St Pauls area of Bristol since 1980. Aspiration Creation Elevation (ACE) is a social enterprise that has been delivering music-based therapeutic mentoring workshops for children and young people in Bristol since 2013. Currently they deliver youth provision on three evenings a week to between 80-100 children and young people from St Pauls and Montpelier with activities including music, dance, art and computer games.
In 2014 the two organisations came together to successfully bid for the right to take over the running of Dockland Settlement & Youth Centre under Bristol City Council’s Community Asset Transfer scheme and have been jointly managing the buildings since October of that year under the new name @Docklands.
New Centre Manager Delroy Hibbert says ‘that there was real fear in the community that if no one came forward to take it on this much-loved and historical youth facility could have been deemed as surplus to requirements by the council and sold off for development. ACE and Full Circle decided to come together to prevent this from happening and preserve the buildings for future use by the residents of St Pauls and surrounding areas.’
On 20th February 2016 between 2pm and 6pm we will be holding our official launch event with special VIP guest Ray Mighty, whose own music career began at the Docklands Settlement, officially open the building for us. On the day our guests can take part in a raffle and win a £50 cash prize, take a tour of the building and see what is on offer. The event will also include young people enterprise stalls and performances from children and young people who attend the youth clubs showcasing their talents and proving that Docklands still has a key role to play in the developing of young Bristol talent.
